Going where few have gone before
On a cold and misty morning in rural Scotland I was stood inside the core of a high voltage generator – a machine capable of producing enough electricity to power almost 50,000 homes for a year.
I had travelled to a hydro power station together with our video producer to film a refurbishment project that was taking place. It had never occurred to me that something like this was necessary.
As we filmed the interviews and I learnt more about the project – how complex it was and the impact that the repair would have – I became fascinated by the story that we were telling.
That’s when I realised what I enjoy most about working for our customers: I get to look behind the scenes of how our world operates. Most people will never be aware of how important the work that they carry out is and what it means for everyday life.
